Hello and welcome to our neighborhood. Every year we put on a big Christmas Light Display here in our town Selden. It usually takes us a little over a month to put everything up. We start the week of halloween and the display will be turned on by Thanksgiving night.
It all started when I was a little kid that christmas is one of my favorite holidays and I would beg my dad to put lights on the house. I just loved how they looked at night. After years have passed and I got older I started helping my dad put the lights on the house. This year will be 8 years for us using computer software. Each year we try to add something new to give the display a different look.
The Light display is timed perfectly to the best Christmas music out there today. It takes us at least 3 months to program the songs which is all ran by a computer system call Light-O-Rama. With this software you can choose any music you want to sync the lights to and custom design it to your liking. That includes having the lights fade up or down, shimmer, twinkle, chase or be steady on. This year there are 224 computerized channels that will run the show.
When you arrive at the display, simply tune your car radio to 107.3 F.M. to hear the music. Also enjoy the show as you can walk around the display. Their are 2 speakers set-up outside on the lawn so people can still hear the music.
Throughout the years we’ve been getting so many nice compliments on how the display looks by everyone that comes to visit and we really appreciate it. So when we first started, we decided why not do all this for a special cause. All money donated each season will go towards St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, Suffolk County Make-A-Wish Foundation and The Andrew Rosa Foundation.
We hope everyone enjoys the display and we would like to wish everyone Happy Holidays and a healthy and safe New Years from our family to yours.
See you there!
